Fontenay Abbey
Classified as a French historic monument as early as 1862, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981. It was one of the first French monuments to appear on this list, which recognized the exceptional value of both the Fontenay abbey complex and its natural surroundings.
buffon's big forge
A masterpiece of 18th-century industrial heritage, it was built by the famous naturalist Comte de Buffon. It comprises a unique architectural ensemble combining the domestic and industrial parts of the building. Listed as a historic monument, it bears witness to the scientific genius of the Age of Enlightenment
